It has been ten years since the victory over King Ruinous and his attempted new Empire. Mach Derune and the men and women who led the way to victory have created their own Empire in place of Rubious'. And that Empire is flourishing.
If there was one trait of Mach's father that Mach is proud to have inherited it is the want to fulfill the oaths he promised. One such oath was impossible to complete before now. But after ten years of training, it is finally time. He will set out on his journey to fulfill the oath he made which will lead him to the capital city of the Elven people, and the Goddess Tree.
The first length of his journey will take him across the Great Sea. As he bids a farewell to friends and family, Mach sets out aboard the Majestic and into new worlds.
Plans never go the way they are planned.
Mach Derune has already faced more than he
had thought he would need to. The Jarthrum
Empire is at a stalemate war with another
Empire, and it may be only a matter of time
before that stalemate is broken. His goal of
heading north has changed to moving west,
into the lands of his ancestor. But what
awaits him there will once again show him
who he is and what kind of a man he was
raised to be.
As he journeys westward, the oaths that he
swore to uphold will pale when he finds
himself within a dire situation. The oaths of
his family’s bloodline, though they come from
across the Great Sea, will guide him as he
forges his own path.
With close friends by his side, Mach Derune
will do what he can to live up to both of the
heritages he holds so dear.
The trade city of Marjha. Mach Derune has made it through the Jarthrum Empire and to the city at the western most border. There is still a great distance to travel before he is within reach of his ultimate goal, but within the city he finds help where bloodlines live. Nothing in the world is ever truly free, but when help comes with an offer to trade, there is no reason to reject it.
Decisions made can have everlasting impacts, including those that were made with the greatest intentions. For all too soon Mach will find himself in a predicament that will make him realize that simple fact. Before he can return to his quest, there are things that he must make right.
Even if it costs him his morality.
The journey north had been hard enough, as a group, Mach Derune has been able to continue believing in a future that will soon be in his grasp. With the end of their journey coming to a close, it is now that every move the group makes will make the difference between success and failure. Once they enter the Forest of Iyth, there would be no aide to cross their path. They will be on their own.
Their destination, the City of Tears, comes closer with each mile that the group puts behind them. And it will be there that many things will come to a close. Some of those closures draws its strength from one of the group. The love of any one person can give great strength to those whose hearts it envelops.
It is not always true that love conquers all, but it can be a source of strength to defend that which you love.
